What and who is ContainerKing?

ContainerKing is a well established & reliable, independent business based in Lincolnshire. We are currently serving the regional business to business sector for secure portable accommodation buildings focusing mainly on the construction market, and local business to consumer market for the provision of self storage services.

The business formed by Steve Empson is now expanding the portable accommodation operation to the more prestigious corporate, hospitality and educational sectors with a brand new range of bespoke portable accommodation and secure storage units.

So How did it all begin?

My initial experience of the portable accommodation industry was as a 14 year old; cleaning cabins in my summer school holiday for David Wraith of the then Wraith Group: Rent-a-Unit Limited for a quid an hour cash in hand!

Being in a privileged position in my early years as a family friend of Mr Wraith’s, I witnessed the rapid growth of Rent-a-Unit Limited at close hand to become the second biggest portable accommodation business in the UK. David Wraith’s drive and determination and overall his charm and charisma made a lasting impression on me; to which I owe him credit to a big proportion of our achievements to date with the ContainerKing business.

These early experiences gave me the grounding and motivation to venture out into business in 1997, finally setting up ContainerKing in January 2000 (with initial capital being an overdraft of only £3,000!). ContainerKing today has a current fleet of over 400 units; and a 10 year unbroken record of increasing turnover and earnings.

Our focus on continual development, improvement and expansion; and to do business on the same playing field as the industry giants of today, continually challenges us to compete with the industry “big boys” inspiring ContainerKing to be a totally customer orientated business.

Our Staff

At the current moment in time we have only employ a limited number of staff, obviously this will continue to change gradually as the business grows, but “fingers crossed” we have a very good record of identifying good people with the right experience, but more importantly the right attitude to bring in to our team. All our employees understand the importance of maintaining an efficient operation and focusing on customer service which is all too often overlooked in the UK today.

And why we think we are a better choice than our competitors?

This is a tough one, are we any better than our competitors?

We certainly cannot claim to have the scale and resources of the Portakabins and Elliotts of the industry, we simply haven’t. But in which respect we certainly won’t be going after every job that is offered to us, we would rather point you in the right direction if it’s a job we don’t have the relevant scale of resources to carry out.

We are not going to claim our products are in any way superior to various other products available on the market, but we have some very good products and we are always looking to “adopt, adapt and improve” again we will tell you if we think our product is not suitable or the best for your application.

There are many angles to consider when you’re in business, from a purely business perspective you have to know exactly what you want to achieve and where you want to go, what separates the “good” from the “not so good” is exactly how you get there and when! I’m happy to build this business at a modest rate of growth, and as a business we are happy at the current moment in time to simply look at the smaller jobs, the one off units, and the longer term contracts where I believe we can offer you significant improvements on value without any compromise to quality.

Above all, ContainerKing limited is a very honest business and I personally am very proud of that.
